“Lenape Lifeways” Program

On Thursday, May 14th, Carla and Alan Messinger spoke to an overflowing room about the life of the Lenape Indians.  The Messingers also brought along exhibits for everyone to see.  The children and adults at the program learned a lot about Lenape life as compared to the colonists and even life today.  A great big thank you to the Messingers for sharing their expertise!

Local Author Book Signing

Local author Tom Tancin was at the library on Saturday, June 20th to sign and talk about his new book, “Time Warriors: Induction”.  This is the first of four books in the “Time Warriors: Legacy” series.  Kids and adults bought books and asked Tom some great questions about his books and writing.  Afterward, they all enjoyed refreshments provided by the Friends of NAPL.  The second book will be released in December, so mark your calendars for another book signing at the library!

Family Science Days

The library held Family Science Days on Tuesday, August 4th and Wednesday, August 5th.  The science project for this year was tie-dying.  Everyone brought an item to tie-dye, for example, a t-shirt, a pillow case or a tote bag.  Diane DeVivo, a chemistry teacher, brought two helpers with her to assist all the families in their tie-dying.  Whether they chose the bullseye, spiral, or other pattern, everyone’s project turned out very bright and colorful as you can see from the pictures below!

Create & Participate

Family Fun Night

On Thursday, June 25th, several families attended the Create & Participate Family Fun Night.  The families heard the story Hi, Pizza Man!, played kazoos along with The Duck Who Played the Kazoo and acted out Drat That Fat Cat!.  To finish off the evening, the participating families made sculptures out of straws.  They were all so colorful and different!
