Friends of NAPL The Friends is an association of concerned citizens who use their talents, skills, and interests to: · focus public attention on the Library. · stimulate the use of the Library’s resources and services. · receive and encourage gifts, endowments and bequests. · assist in developing Library services and facilities for the community. |

|
Some of the things the Friends have done in the past include: purchasing an outdoor media drop box, creating a book discussion group, Longaberger Basket Bingo, sponsored the 9th grade essay contest, helped with the auction, helped with the library’s annual drive mailing, and had booths at various community events. No one is required to help with any one thing. You may simply use the talents you have and choose how you would like to help the Library. We do ask that you bring a smile, a desire to help, and if possible, a head full of ideas. Meetings are held fourth Tuesdays of each month.
Membership is just $5 per year for an individual and comes with many opportunities to show your support. For more information, please call 610-262-7537 and speak to any staff member or email Karen Hein, Assistant Director. |

King Tut Bus Trip The Friends sponsored a bus trip to the King Tut Exhibit at the Franklin Institute on Friday, June 29th, 2007. The exhibit contained artifacts from the “Golden Age of the Pharaohs”. Among the artifacts were a child-sized throne, a game, a chest, and the sarchophagus of King Tut’s great-grandmother, Tuyu. The artifacts were in amazing condition given the fact that most of them were 3,500 years old. An audio tour provided interesting background information on more than 20 of the artifacts. There was also an IMAX presentation called “Mummies: Secrets of the Pharaohs”. To end the trip, everyone had a very good meal at the Spaghetti Warehouse, not far from the Franklin Institute. A great time was had by all. |

Summer Family Fun Day The Friends sponsored a Summer Family Fun Day on June 9th, 2007. There were games, prizes, crafts, stories, face painting, balloons, and snacks. “Tip”, the Crayola Crayon, and McGruff The Crime Dog stopped by to see the children. Rita’s Italian Ice on Cherryville Road in Northampton were at the library selling Italian ice for $1 each. All the proceeds they raised went toward the Summer Children’s Programs. Thank you so much to all who volunteered or attended. |
