Giving Opportunities
Memorial Donations and Birthday Books The Library accepts monetary contributions or books in memory or honor of an individual. Simply bring your monetary donation or the book to the library. If you contribute money, the Library will purchase a book. If you wish, you may inform us of the interests of the honoree and we will purchase a book on that subject. We will place a bookplate in the front of the book listing the donor and the person in whose memory or honor it is.
If you are interested in donating Birthday Books, please follow the same procedure, choosing from a selection of picture books to be used as Birthday Books. If you have any questions, please call the Library at 610-262-7537.
Print and Multimedia Donations The library accepts donations of materials (books, magazines, books on CD, CD-ROMs, Videos, DVDs, etc.) that are clean and in good shape. We do not accept items that are moldy, dirty or falling apart. We also do not accept any textbooks, magazines older than 12 months or any encyclopedias.
All donations are accepted without condition, and immediately become the property of the library. They cannot be returned under any circumstances. Some donations will be added to the library collection. Any item in good condition that is not added to the collection will be put on the sale shelf. Donations added to the collection may be subsequently withdrawn when they are worn or when their content is no longer current.
The library accepts donations during our business hours. We may not be able to help you unload the donations, so please don’t bring more than you can carry into the library yourself. Donations may be brought to the back door of the library next to the book drop. Just knock on the door and a staff member will assist you.
The library is a non-profit organization, so every donation is tax-deductible. If you need a letter for tax purposes, please include your name and address on a slip of paper with your donations. We cannot assign a dollar value to your donations. It is your responsibility to assess the value of the items you are donating. |
