Activities

Reader Zone (June 3 - August 19)
Reader Zone is our online program to track reading achievements. Participants in our Teen Summer Reading Challenge will track the number of books they've read, as well as the minutes they've spent reading. Reader Zone is easy! Just download the app to your phone, and create your account. Then, use our code 26055 to join the Teen Summer Reading Challenge. Be sure to track all your minutes! For every 3 books you read, you earn a small prize. All participants are entered to win the grand prize: a $50 gift card! Participants may earn one extra entry for each in-person event or club meeting they attend.

Donation Drive (June 3 - August 15) - This summer, we will be conducting a donation drvie to create care kits for local organizations.  These care kits will include items such as nonperishable food and personal care items.  Item donations can be dropped off at the library any time we are open.

TAKE HOME CRAFTS

Hydroponic Veggie Garden – Monday, June 5  - Learn about hydroponic gardening, and grow your own lettuce! All materials are included. Spaces are limited. Registration is required. No NASD Kids emails.

Upcycled Pollinator Feeder - Monday, July 3  - Make your own pollinator feeder!  For this craft, you are encouraged to recycle a jar that you already have. For example, you can use an old jam or spaghetti sauce jar.
If you do not need a jar included in your kit, please email our Young Adult Coordinator upon registration: medelheiser@northamptonapl.org

If you do not contact us, a jar will be included in your kit. All other supplies will be included. Registration required. No NASD Kids emails.

DIY Lip Balm – Tuesday, August 7 - Make your own lip balm!  All supplies included. Registration is required. No NASD Kids emails.

IN-PERSON EVENTS

Book Covers Reimagined by Basquiat – Tuesday, June 6 @ 6PM -   At this month's Teen Art Workshop, we will reimagine the covers of our favorite books in the style of Jean-Michel Basquiat! Registration is requested, but not required. No NASD Kids emails.

Tote Bag Painting inspired by Keith Haring – Tuesday, July 18 @ 6PM -  At this month's Teen Art Workshop, we will paint in the style of Keith Haring! Participants will also receive a canvas tote bag to paint.  Spaces are limited. Registration is required. No NASD Kids emails.

Collage Art inspired by Agar & Hoch – Tuesday, August 8 @ 6PM  - At this month's Teen Art Workshop, we will create collages inspired by the works of Eileen Agar and Hannah Höch! Registration is requested, but not required. No NASD Kids emails.

Illuminate your Art: Circuit Light Box - Tuesday, August 15 @ 6PM -  Illuminate your art by making a circuit light box!  Spaces are limited. Registration is required. No NASD Kids emails. 

ALL AGES EVENTS

 Spatial Poetry - Monday, June 12 @ 3PM - (3rd - 12th Grade) - Make poems out of street names in your community!  Join Miss Tessa and Miss Mayzi to learn how to make spatial poems. Registration is required for this program.

Collaborative Rube Goldberg Machine - Monday, June19 @ 3PM - (3rd - 12th Grade) - Join Miss Tessa and Miss Mayzi as we work together as a group to build a working Rube Goldberg machine.  Registration required.

 Flower Power - Thursday, July 20 @ 3PM - (Kindergarden - 5th Grade) - Learn all there is to know about local plants and flowers from Audrey Erb, a member of the Lehigh County Master Gardeners.  Spaces are limited so registration is required. Everyone who registers will receive a seed packet.

 Community Garden Visit - Wednesday, August 9 @ 5PM - (all ages) - Join Miss Tessa, Miss Mayzi and Miss Veronica as they make a visit to the Northampton Food Bank garden. Registration recommended but not required.

CLUBS

Teen Advisory Board - Wednesday, June 6, July 5 & August 2 @ 3PM - Our Teen Advisory Board is a space for teens, grades 6-12, to represent themselves at our library.

Teen Anime Club - Tuesday, June 13, July 11 & August 8 @ 3PM - Join the Teen Anime Club at Northampton Area Public Library! Hang out and watch anime with other fans. Members may choose which anime to watch at each meeting.

Teen Game Club - Tuesday, June 20, July 18 & August 15 @ 3PM - Join our Teen Game Club! Hang out and play a variety of video, card, and board games. Registration for this meeting is requested. No NASD Kids emails.

Teen Book Club - Tuesday, June 27 @ 6PM - Join our Teen Book Club! Read great (or not-so-great) books and discuss them with other readers.
